Baoviet was established on 15 January 1965, and is the leading financial-insurance group in Vietnam. It has been accredited as one of the top 25 enterprises in the country by the State Government.

The Group is headquartered in Hanoi with a widespread network of more than 188 branches across 63 provinces nationwide. Baoviet was the first insurance company incorporated in Vietnam.

Baoviet was granted the First-Class Labour Medal by the Party and the State on the eve of its 50 years establishment, in January 2015. BVQI (UK) accredited Baoviet with the quality management ISO 9001:2000 certification in August 2001, and ISO 9001:2008 certification in 2009.

The company was listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange in June 2009. Today, the group provides a comprehensive range of financial services, including insurance, banking, fund management, securities and investments. As at 31/12/2019, the owner equity and total assets of BaoViet Group is VND19,902 billions and VND128, 238 billions respectively. BaoViet Group is the first State-owned enterprise to successfully seek attract a foreign strategic partner, Sumitomo Life Insurance Group (Sumitomo Life) own 22.09% stake in the Group. The brand name of BaoViet is number 1 in Vietnam insurance market with value more than USD267 million as per Brand Finance (UK) accredited.
